Interpretation

Commentary
The inscription appears on a face of the stone partially affected by abrasion, along with BES20 1693 and 1694. Due to the state of preservation and the way in which the inscriptions are carved around each other, it is difficult to be certain which letters belong to which inscription. The first name seems to end with a m that has been turned into a camel's hump, as part of the simplified camel drawing. Between the camel's legs, it is possible to read bn. The next letters are clear on the stone but produce an unlikely name *Ḥbwṣ. The inscription seems to end with the ṣ, but directly above the ṣ are the d and ʿ of BES20 1693. Josef Bloomfield
