Translation
By ʾlht son of Ḥnnʾl son of ʾlht and he rejoiced [on account of] the new herbage
Josef Bloomfield

Interpretation

Commentary
Following Al-Jallad and Jaworska 2019: 59 in translating bhʾ as 'to rejoice', the meaning of h- ʾnf here is clearly not 'to cry/feel sadness' (see Al-Jallad and Jaworksa 2019: 45. For the translation of ʾnf here, see the Classical Arabic rawḍat ʾunuf, a meadow of new herbage not pastured upon (Lane 116c), and ʾanīf, land that produces its vegetation early (Lane 117a).
