Interpretation

Commentary

This inscription contains the first letter family of the South Semitic script. Interestingly, the present version adds an alif before the initial sequence, producing the word ʾhl 'family.' A similar phenomenon is encountered in ELHT Wādī al-Zaydāniyyah Tay 19. For an interpretation of this phenomenon, see Al-Jallad and Prioletta (2026).
