- FRʿ – According to Lane (2379), farʿ can mean “a channel in which water runs to the canyon [šiʿb] or valley [wādī],” and more specifically, “the water-course in a low tract or between two acclivities of two mountains.” In local toponymy, it is used to refer to tributaries of major wadis.
