Interpretation
- Commentary
The final name was written originally as ʿl then the author inserted a g above the ʿ to correct the spelling, producing the name ʿgl. The text appears to be surrounded by a cartouche but it does not enclose the entire inscription as it excludes the final letter. It is, therefore, possible that it was added by a later hand; the reasons for doing so are not evident. Likewise, the two pairs of seven lines may not be related to the text either, but added later by a well-wishing passerby.
