Interpretation

Commentary

ʿzn bn bnt bn krzn: This section of the inscription is quite damaged. The section ʿzn bn bnt is previously attested, confirming that the oval following the n is just a closed bn. The b of the word 'son' before krzn has been obliterated.

h-ʾs¹d: The meaning of this word in the present context is entirely unclear. The 'trace' could mean the evidence of a troop having passed through here. It may refer to the grave, in which case ʾs¹d might be translated as 'warrior.' Less likely, in my opinion, is that this term refers to a lion, in which case one would expect an indefinite form.
