OCIANA 1: M.C.A. Macdonald read l m{d}, based on old photographs, where the d has a Hismaic form.

Commentary

The above letters are read by the edition as the end of CGSP 5. The second glyph appears to be a poorly executed S-shaped , typical of variant 3 Safaitic. The final glyph does not correspond in a straight-forward way to any attested letter. The reading above interprets it as an r with only one hook at the top end, which is also typical of variant 3 Safaitic. In this case, the author continued the hook down to intersect with the bottom end of the lunate curve. One could also interpret it as a poorly produced m, where the bottom stroke continued pass the verticle line. This would give the name s²m, which is attested a handful of times, as compared to the name s²r, which is atteseted some 30 times (OCIANA, 30/12/2024).
