Commentary

A photograph of this text was not published in the editio princeps. The photograph of Al-Jallad confirms that the third glyph is a b; later damage on the plaster intersects with the lower end of the stroke, but the letter clearly continues past that point. The second glyph is likely to be read as an ʿ, or less likely, a g. Both names, ʿbt and gbt, are previously attested in Safaitic.
